iQed, powered by iMatr, is a new and dynamic way for educators to engage students. Its versatility allows students of all ages to better understand politics, government, and the power of the people to make positive changes in society. With the touch of a button on their smart phones or personal devices, students can access current social issues and even customize their focus on specific ones. iQed can also connect students with their elected representatives thanks to geolocation technology that provides politicians’ names, parties, views, and contact information.

With iQed, elementary school students and educators can use democratic technology in their classrooms to explore the world of politics and answer essential questions.

At iMatr, we also remove the navigational challenges of contacting the elected officials who make decisions on our behalf. With its geolocation technology, students in classrooms across Canada can reach out to their elected representatives about any issue of concern in their communities. We believe educating young minds on critical issues such as governance can never start early enough. With iQed, youth are actively engaged in what makes a true democracy, where every voice matters.

Secondary school educators and students from grades 9 to 12 can now actively engage in our democracy with a touch of a button on their smartphones or personal devices. With iQed, exploring topics in the subjects of law, political science, civics, social studies, religious studies, science, geography, history, and English can become more dynamic and engaging. Students can formulate educated opinions on relevant issues and then connect with other students, schools, community leaders, and politicians on what matters to them. Post-secondary students and professors can now use democratic technology with a touch of a button on their smartphones or personal devices. iQed uses geolocation to reveal the political representatives for each student in their home riding. Students receive the politicians’ names, parties, positions, and contact information. The iMatr platform presents current issues relevant to society in the form of IQs (Inquiries/Questions) that students can access. They can also create their own IQs for others to answer to spark discussion. As Canadians with the power to vote, post-secondary students can not only research and comment on election issues but communicate directly with politicians about them. With iQed, young voters can become active in the democratic process and make informed decisions at election time to improve our society.
